North Kiwi Limited is a New Zealand horticulture company working the fertile
country around Te Puke — the region where the world's kiwifruit industry began.
We look after vines, crops and the people who tend them.
Horticulture in the Bay of Plenty runs to a rhythm: prune, tie down, pollinate,
thin, pick, pack. North Kiwi Limited exists to keep that rhythm steady for the
orchards we work on.
We are a small, directly‑managed New Zealand company. Decisions are made by
people who are on the orchard, not away from it — which means the work gets
done to the standard a block actually needs, at the point in the season it
needs doing.

Green and gold kiwifruit share an orchard system but not a workload. The
timings, the canopy targets and the harvest windows all differ.
Gold varieties come off earlier and are less forgiving of a knock, so crews
need briefing differently and bins need to move faster. Green blocks carry a
heavier crop and reward patient canopy work through the summer. Getting both
right on the same property is a scheduling problem as much as a growing one —
and it is the part we plan hardest.

Where we are
Te Puke: the home of New Zealand kiwifruit
The vines that became a global industry were first grown commercially on this
stretch of Bay of Plenty country.
Te Puke's volcanic soils, mild winters and reliable rainfall made it the place
where kiwifruit growing was worked out — the pergola structures, the pruning
regimes, the harvest systems that orchards everywhere still use. Generations of
local growers refined that knowledge on blocks within a few kilometres of our
own address.
We are a young company operating in an old orchard district, and we take that
seriously. The standards here were set a long time ago.
