Our story
Started by growers, for growing
North Kiwi Limited was incorporated on 30 November 2022 by two shareholders with a shared interest in the horticulture of the Bay of Plenty.
The idea behind the company was simple. Orchard work in this district is highly seasonal and highly specific — a block that is pruned late, pollinated poorly or picked in the wrong order will show it in the payout twelve months later. Growers need people who understand that chain of consequences and who will still be here next season to answer for it.
So the company was set up to be small enough that its owners are personally across the work, and structured enough to be a proper counterparty: a registered entity, a fixed local address, and named directors on the public record.
We work in a district where reputation travels quickly between neighbours, packhouses and contractors. That suits us. It is the most reliable quality control there is.
The district
Working where the industry was invented
Te Puke is not an incidental location for a horticulture business. It is the place where commercial kiwifruit growing was worked out, block by block.
The volcanic soils around Te Puke drain well and hold warmth; the winters are mild enough to avoid serious damage and cold enough to give vines the chill they need. Those conditions are why the first commercial orchards took here, and why the district still carries a large share of New Zealand's crop.
Being a 2022 company in an old growing district means inheriting a standard we did not set. We would rather meet it than talk around it.

Do the job properly
A row that looks finished is not the same as a row that is finished. We work to the second standard.
Respect the season
Timing is the one input you cannot buy back. Jobs get scheduled against the vine, not our convenience.
Look after people
Safe sites, fair treatment and proper briefing. Crews that are looked after do better work.
Say it straight
If a block has a problem, the owner hears it from us early — not from the packhouse later.
